How to Instantly Boost Your Home’s Value

Wednesday, October 30th, 2019

Tip #1: Renovate any outdated rooms

Are there rooms in your house that look way too old for it’s time? Adding some modern feel to your home will ensure your home increases in price and value. If you don’t have the budget to do an entire renovation, simple fixes like repainting, adding in some light fixtures, or improving the ventilation in the home will do the trick.

Tip #2: Think green!

Buyers are looking for energy-efficient homes – and will only continue to do so in the future. In order to make your home more green, you can install energy-efficient bulbs, low energy appliances and heating, etc. Another way to do this is with hydro insulation. A home that is insulated will sell at a higher price than one that is not, giving you a great return on investment in the long run.

Tip #3 Update those floors

Have carpet in your home? Update to hardwood floors. This flooring choice is not only eye-catching, but also long-lasting. Having this in your home instead of carpet will tell future homeowners that they won’t have to worry about their flooring for a while, and adds a great amount of value to a home. Carpet or any other flooring option needs regular deep cleaning and overall, isn’t as pretty. And if you already have hardwood floors, consider getting them sanded and stained or refinished.

Tip #4 Paint the front door

The first look at your home is crucial in generating a lasting impression. Simply adding a fresh coat of paint or decoration to the front door can be a great way to add value, but not break the bank.

Tip #5 Fix the outside

A photo of your home is the first thing buyers will see. Making sure the outside of your home is as beautiful as the inside is crucial. You can trim the bushes, plant some flowers, powerwash the driveaway, revamp the mailbox – anything that will attract buyers to your home by first glance.

Protecting Your Hardwood Flooring From Holiday Traffic

Friday, December 9th, 2011

Do you know how to protect your wood floors from holiday traffic this Christmas? If you are unsure, we are here to help by giving you a few protection tips. Read below.

You do not need scuff marks, scratches and water damage to your hardwood floors this holiday season. Keep your holiday floors looking fabulous.

 Under The Christmas Tree

You can have a fresh cut Christmas tree and still have beautiful hardwood floors. You can start to by giving your tree a good shake to eliminate loose pine needles. This will decrease nettles that can get stuck in your wood flooring. Place a plastic mat under your tree. This will prevent water damage from watering the tree. Remember, bacteria starts growing 24 hours after contact.

 Christmas Party Wood Flooring Safety

If your house has an abundance of hardwood flooring, purchase extra rugs or mats to place over your hardwood flooring during the holiday season. Rugs and mats will protect your flooring from scuffs and spills in high-traffic areas during parties.

Do not use overly wet rags to wipe up food and drink messes. Dry or slightly wet rags are the best to use to clean a mess from hardwood flooring.

There is no excuse why your hardwood floors should not be in good condition this holiday season.
