What To Expect When You Are Expecting… A New Floor

You’ve chosen your hardwood flooring for your home and you might be wondering what happens next. Knowing what comes after is important to properly prepare you for the installation of your hardwood floors.hardwood floor vs. carpet

Before any work will happen, the installer will visit your home to inspect and measure the site. This is a good time to ask any questions you may have about the installation process. Once the installation starts, the areas where the installation is happening should be off limits to you and your family until it is complete.

Make sure to set aside some time to move furniture out of the installation rooms. Having the installation rooms clear in advance is important, unless they have arranged with you to move the furniture themselves. Also, the flooring will need to acclimate to your home prior to installation. It will need to rest somewhere for a couple days to adjust to your home’s temperature and moisture conditions.

The next days of installation could be a little noisy and disrupting as your floors are being installed. Once it is complete, your installer may tell you to stay off the floors for a short period of time. When you move your furniture back to the room, you might want to consider rubber or felt pads at the bottom of furniture that comes in contact with the floors. This will ensure minimal scratches or dents.
