Spring Cleaning Your Home During Social Distancing

Mar 19, 2020

During these uncertain times due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we know many of you are working from home during this social distancing. Time can pass slowly, and it’s important to keep yourself busy so you can stay alert and focused. Now more than ever is the perfect time to take advantage of spring cleaning your home. Here’s some ways to get a head start on the hectic seasons of spring and summer:

Clear your home of clutter

One of the most important parts of spring cleaning your home is getting rid of any mess and clutter. Gather and organize any items you feel are valuable that you can sell online, and get rid of any other items you feel have no purpose in your home.  Donate them instead!

Scrub down your walls and cabinets

Your walls and cabinets accumulate dust and soot overtime (especially in the kitchen!) and it’s important to wash them down so it isn’t visibly dirty. Try using a sponge and dishwashing detergent to get any stains out.

Clean your hardwood floors

If you haven’t been cleaning your hardwood floors regularly, now is the time to do so. Liquid cleaner formulas designed specifically for a hardwood floor (pH neutral, residue-free) are safe to use. Make sure the product is designed for use on a hardwood floor, and check the manufacturer’s website to make sure it’s safe to use with your wood finish.  We always recommend Bona products, which can easily be purchased and any local grocery or hardware store in your area.

Clean your ceiling and light fixtures

Ever seen how much dust the top of a ceiling fan can accumulate? Clear your ceiling and light fixtures of any dust and dirt with a duster or vacuum with a nozzle attachment.

Are you ready to give your home a much needed makeover? Focus on your floors, appliances and furnishings first to get your home all spruced up.
