The Best Wall Color for Your Hardwood Floors
Mar 27, 2019Picking out the best wall color to compliment your hardwood floors can be a difficult task. With so many options, how can you know what’s best? We’re making it easier for you by giving you some design tips to help you pick out the best wall color for your hardwood floors.
Neutral is always an option
If you want to play it safe, neutral colors will work with anything. They are not meant to make bold statements, but still provide a style that can be appreciated by many. Here are some example colors:
- Ivory
- Cream
- Tan
- Taupe
- White
Opt for bold colors if you want a contrast
If you are looking to make a bold statement by having both your floors and walls stand out, you need to contrast the colors. Find the undertone to your hardwood floors, and use a color wheel to find the opposite color. To make it easier, if it is a warm color, contrast with a cool color, and vice versa.
Putting all attention on the floor
If you want to make your hardwood floors the main statement in the room, you should choose a wall color based on intensity. For example, if you have dark stained hardwood floors and want to keep the attention there, then choose a wall color such as pale blue, light peach or light orange. This keeps the attention away from the walls and onto the floor instead.
